Mohegan Sun Casino to host COVID-19 testing site Staff reports Yale New Haven Health, the Mohegan Tribe and Mohegan Sun have announced a new community COVID-19 collection site that will be set up in the Thames Garage at Mohegan Sun, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville. Senior Vice President of Sports & Entertainment In his role as Senior Vice President of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), Tom Cantone oversees all aspects of the entertainment offerings at all MGE properties including Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, Mohegan Sun Pocono in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. When combined with our Sky Convention Center facilities, Mohegan Sun offers an unmatched 275,000 square feet of state-of-the-art event space, including our 125,000 square-foot Expo Hall, two ballrooms (37,000 Sq. Ft.) and 46 breakout/meeting rooms. Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment was contracted as the licensed operator of the casino in September 2019. Hard Rock was shut down in April 2020 to renovate and rebrand the property as Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Grand Opening January 15, 2021. Mohegan Sun Casino will open at the time Virgin Hotels Las Vegas opens January 15, 2021. New Year’s Eve at Mohegan Sun will look a little different this year, as to ensure appropriate health and safe distancing protocols, there are no breakout parties or celebrations on the floor. However guests are encouraged to make restaurant dining reservations in advance and there is a special 'Cheers to the New Year' hotel package available. The hotel package comes equipped with a bottle of champagne and $100.00 towards room service or a restaurant of choice.
