I really like this watch. The retro look combined with the modern innovation of being solar power is a great blend of classic design merged with modern technology.
What appealed to me about this watch is that it was designed for purely practical and pragmatic reasons, but also the history behind its previous descendants. This model is based on the DW-5600C-1V, the same watch worn by Keanu Reeves in the movie 'Speed', but more impressively, the watch was approved for NASA space missions.
Although this G Shock isn't the DW-5600C-1V, it is a modern upgrade replete with the same qualities which made it so robust.
The watch itself was delivered quickly by Amazon to Australia. Setting up the time was a simple process, and because I have small wrists, I find the bigger G Shocks tend to be a bit big on the wrists and get in the way a bit, this watch however is a good size.
The most impressive thing is the atomic time keeping function of this watch. Currently living in Australia, I am unfortunately unable to take advantage of this feature, however, being someone who travels a lot, I will be taking advantage of this option.
I also constantly use the auto-illumination option, as I am a nurse who frequently works night shifts, this feature is great for keeping time in a dimly lit ward. A simple tilt of my wrist at a 30 degree angle illuminates the time.
Most importantly though, the reason I bought this watch is due to its robustness. This watch will hold up just as well as some of the more expensive G Shocks out there. Being solar powered, I will only have to change the batteries every 10 years or so, not potentially every 2.

Someone asked a question about what to do because their charge didn’t go above halfway.
I have only had my watch one week if this didn’t work I was going to exchange. I have another tough SolarG and even in the drawer without wearing for a few days it stays at full.
So here is what I did I left it in the window all day for two days the first day overnight I left it under a lamp over night then next day window all day. I made sure the watch face was pointed up so it could get the direct sunlight. Even when I left it all night under a lamp I made sure the light was hitting the face.
Here is the kicker I would periodically check on the second day when I saw full charge as soon as it hit full I put it on. It went back to half so back to the window then as evening approached under a lamp til bed. So it’s at full on my wrist and holding strong. I think one mistake maybe two is that when people leave it under a light they don’t leave it face up so it gets the light. One more thing I did check while in the window if it got to hot took it off let it cool down. I also made sure the sun rays were hitting it directly hope this helps and gives resolution I apologize for it being so lengthy 🙂

A very manly, man watch for manly men. Big, but not overpowering on the wrist. Very easy to read. Lots of features all of which seem to work pretty well. Rather than try and figure out the instructions in the owner's manual, go to YouTube and watch a video.
You have to download the 'pro trek' app onto your phone so that you can input the things you want the watch to monitor. Your watch will pair with your bluetooth and that allows you to input data to the 'pro trek' app. Once you have done that the watch will unpair from bluetooth. You have to pair with bluetooth every time you want to change a watch function. Bit of a pain, but you get used to it. Can't speak to the water resistance since I haven't worn it in water.
